What is the application rate for Chandler Organic?
As a soil treatment, Chandler Organic is used at the same rates as Chandler Soil, and we recommend 8 ounces per acre in the row or 12 to 16 ounces per acre when broadcast. For foliar applications, Chandler Organic is used at the same rates you would normally use for Chandler Foliar (about 10 ounces per acre). We also use the same product handling and mixing instructions for Chandler Organic that we recommend for the other liquid products.
As a Soil Treatment
In general, we recommend applying 12 to 16 ounces per acre in most fields. Use 16 ounces per acre if the soil is very light, poorly drained or compacted. After using the product for at least three years, some of our users drop back to 10 to 12 ounces per acre and have good results. Also, it is possible to apply the product in a band over the row or in the seed furrow with a planter, and the recommended application rate in these cases is 8 to 10 ounces per acre.
The table below lists the range of application rates and the associated per-acre cost. These cost values are rounded to the nearest $0.25 and are based on purchases of 2.5 gallon jugs at our regular retail price. These costs will be lower if purchased in larger volumes (30 gallon drums) or ordered under our early-season discount programs in the fall (September and October) or winter (December through March).
|Application Rate||Acres per gallon||Cost per acre|
|8 ounces||16.0 acres||$7.25 per acre|
|10 ounces||12.8 acres||$9.00 per acre|
|12 ounces||10.7 acres||$10.75 per acre|
|14 ounces||9.1 acres||$12.75 per acre|
|16 ounces||8.0 acres||$14.50 per acre|
For Foliar Feeding
The recommended application rate for Chandler Organic depends on the crop and the frequency of application. Apply Chandler Organic with enough water to get adequate coverage of the plant foliage, and we generally recommend 10-20 gallons per acre. In the table below, the recommended application rates and typical timings are stated, and the range of per-acre costs are rounded to the nearest $0.50 and are based on purchases of gallon jugs at our regular retail price. These costs will be lower if you buy in larger volumes (2.5 gallon jugs or 30 gallon drums) or order under our early-season discount programs in the fall (September and October) or winter (December through March).
|Crop||Application Rate||Cost per acre||Comments on Timing|
|Corn (all types)||8-12 ounces per acre||$7.25 to $10.75||We have had some success with early applications at the 3rd to 5th leaf stage, but late-season applications (just before tasseling to kernel set) provide more consistent and larger corn yield responses. Many users include Chandler Organic when applying fungicides on corn.|
|Soybeans||6 ounces per acre banded over the row or 10 ounces per acre in a broadcast application||$5.50 to $10.75||Yield results have been good with early applications (3rd leaf) or later applications (near flowering). Some people add Chandler Organic to their postemergence chemicals for a one-pass early application.|
|Wheat, oats, rye, and other small grains||8 ounces per acre at the 2nd to 3rd leaf stage. For winter wheat, apply another 6 ounces per acre in the spring at the beginning of new plant growth. For spring wheat, apply another 6 ounces per acre at the Feeke’s stage 8 (flag leaf).||$7.25 to $10.75||Many users include Chandler Organic with their first spring insecticide application.|
|Alfalfa or other hay||10 ounces per acre||$9.00 per cutting||Apply Chandler Organic after each cutting when there is enough new foliage to accept the spray. Many users also treat new seedlings after they emerge and begin to form a canopy.|
|Cover crops, grass fields or pasture||8-10 ounces per acre||$7.25 to $9.00||Apply Chandler Organic when there is enough new foliage to accept the spray. For pastures, Chandler Organic treatments after each rotation help the plants to recover from grazing.|
